All those anti-porn sentiments I’ve seen are only empowering lawmakers to go ahead with government surveillance and censorship. It’s all a Trojan Horse for stopping people from feeling safe.

It mostly focused on “protecting the children” when you know those kids will find a way to view porn on different sites or the same sites using a VPN. It has nothing to do with protecting and keeping kids safe, it’s only about control and surveillance. Look at the recent social media companies having to go to Washington DC and have a hearing focused exclusively on why they’re not protecting kids enough. People old enough to be my great uncle are harping on these social media CEOs and saying how “they should be protecting the kids more” while parents of said kids are standing behind them looking smug. One of these parents straight up said “my 11 year old daughter is addicted to Snapchat”. Why the hell is someone who’s 11 is on Snapchat to begin with?

If current copyright laws would not be as screwed up and slanted towards copyright holders to the point fans and end-users get the short end of the stick, I'd support Generative AI Disclosure Act at least in some extent.

It's less controversial and more obscure but I feel like Scottie Ray, voice of the Utrom Shredder in TMNT 2003 could do a good job voicing Vilgax

Like I could see his Shredder voice fitting Vilgax.

Damn have to step up my game.

There's a lot of shows out there now with 50 minute episodes who's plotlines could be covered in 20 minutes.

I'm annoyed at how many shows have sex scenes now, the vast majority don't add anything.

Space: Above and Beyond is boring, at one point i accidentally skipped 10 episodes and barely noticed at first, then when i went back to watch the episodes i missed i felt like everything that happened in them could've been covered in 2.5 episodes tops.

I'm sure one of those is a hot take

Damn still 3 upvotes, how about this one?

The thing about New Vegas is that it came together despite of it's writers. The more i learn about Sawyer and Avellone's ideas about where they wanted to take the series the more i think they're kind of shitheads. I don't think i like New Vegas as much as i used to.

This sounds like something from a jaded tf2 fan but the #saveTF2 movement is not gonna save the game magically. Valve is more interested in games that they’ll see as profitable and as it currently stands, TF2 isn’t as profitable as some of the other Valve titles. Plus there’s a subset of players who have been demanding a key sale protest to show they mean business. That will only result in valve realizing “oh yeah the game truly is dead, shut the servers down”.

Although fortnite is a good game fundamentally, my main gripe with it is that each battle pass/season has a sense of missing out/fomo. Look at last season, 2 characters no one expected to be added in was Peter Griffin and Solid Snake. Hell look at a couple years ago season wise and Spider-Man was advertised as a T100 skin you can unlock and play as. Literally every ad for that season kept reiterating “you can even play as Spider-Man”. Then there’s skins for characters that are considered important to the games story like Peely, you can’t even unlock base Peely anymore and need to buy the different Peely skins that show up periodically in the item shop. If Epic Games allowed for older battle passes to be unlocked or added in as bonuses for current battle passes, they’d make a lot of money and reduce the fear of missing out for so many.

Also the other major gripe I have with Fortnite is why they keep screwing over skins in surveys. Seriously look at the Aphrodite and Medusa survey designs to their final designs. They butchered Medusa and screwed base Aphrodite over.

Not just here, probably the Internet as a whole.

I've been diving down the Russo-Ukraine war rabbit hole recently to get a better understanding and the amount of propaganda and misinformation from all sides is astonishing. The more I try to learn about the conflict to form an unbiased opinion, the more I realize it's kind of impossible. At the very least you can start seeing through the blatantly false but easily digestible narratives most commentators and the media love to push.

I actually preferred the way Mass Effect's guns worked in the first game and i will never forgive Bioware for introducing thermal clips. Though one better way to have done it would be something like what the laser guns from Helldivers have.

Made the game flow feel more limited tbh.

Speaking of Mass Effect, I didn't really care for any of the romance options in the games. I didn't like any of them enough to want to pursue, plus, I thought it was inappropriate for a commanding officer to sleep with their subordinates while on duty.

My Shepard remained a pure boy and without any distraction from the Reaper threat.

Since we're talking about Bioware, isn't Dragon Age as a series sort of….bad?

Origins is generally considered good. A well done game & strong start.

DA2 was rushed and it shows. Granted, I think there's a lot of good in it personally but it seems to be considered weakest of the series and controversial.

The general impression I've gotten from Inquisition is that its mid. But I haven't played the game nor paid too much attention to the community.

My biggest complaint about Mass Effect is that the romance options available to FemShep are overall pretty bad compared to MaleShep. Kaidan sucks, Jacob sucks even more and Thane is terminally ill so you know from the start it's not going to end well. I liked Samantha, but she's a secondary NPC who doesn't appear until the third game so she doesn't get as much character development. Andromeda had a similar problem with Suvi, but all characters lack development in that game.

Also that the character creator in the original trilogy is too limited. I can forgive a lot of jankiness from a game of that age, but it just won't let you make a male Shepard that didn't fell down the ugly tree and hit most branches along the way.

Never played the games, but I'm aware about 2's infamy for getting a blatant shill review by PC Gamer to everyone's chagrin.

Looks like Dragon Age is one of those awkward franchise held up by a phenomenal entry and progressively weaker sequels. Reminiscent of FEAR and Crackdown games.

Yo-kai Watch is the Pokemon game that Pokemon fans wanted for years, but will never get the recognition it deserves because it’s not Pokemon.
Like seriously, Look at the competitive Yo-kai meta and compare that to Pokemon. It’s night and day. Yo-kai managed to balance the game’s roster so that every mon is viable in their own merit, while in Pokemon really feels like there’s no quality control to into nerfing really broken mons and really terrible mons and it’ll took them generations until they’ll try to fix them.

I’m not fond of Soriel fans. None at all. For both making Asgore an extreme case of Ron the Deatheater I’ve ever witness from a fandom back then (and still to this day in some areas). And for making Toriel a complete bitch for the sake of their OTP. despite the fact that Toriels resentment towards Asgore from the games is always portray as well kept to herself, in contrast to Asgore’s impulsiveness that lead his emotions into worser situation in the story.
And This is coming from someone who likes both of them for their own nuances in Undertale.

I like monstergirls designs when their made by queer people. It’s not like I don’t like them when they’re made by certain people. And I don’t hate monstergirl designs or Kemonomini as a whole, I think their neat in their own way. It’s primarily due to most them willing to go unconventional with the features, body, and structure of monstergirls compare to the norm.
But I will lie to myself if it also for the fact that when I look up monstergirls, I expected *monster*girls or monstergirls or even monster*girl*, but for the most part, it’s just girl with a slight variant of ears and tail. I just expect something more from it really. Like come on man! I want monstergirls that’ll make go “hear me out guys” along with 40 replies and zero likes and not some anime version of a cosplay alt girl I find on discord.

I actually like The Batman (2004)'s take on the Joker. I actually like how he's so different from the other depictions. It makes him very unique and memorable. It works well for the series.

Same here; I specifically like how he's portrayed as an actually competent and dangerous combatant, unlike other Jokers, who only manage to clash with Batman by pain tolerance alone; he also heavily uses the laughing gas, which is quickly becoming a forgotten characteristic of the Joker in modern interpretations.

I sort of agree, despite the cast being interesting characters. The only one which really gained my interest in the trilogy was Samara,. Heck, in my first playthrough I only romanced someone (Miranda) by accident.

My own hot takes:
Thermal clips aren't a big deal.
I'm surprised anyone cares. The change doesn't make sense mind you but still. Some people are surprisingly passionate about this.

(Star wars)
Those inquisitor lightsabers are so fucking dumb. The whole spinning thing feels like it was designed to appeal to people who use fidget spinners. I have no idea how no one complains about this.

Reverse grip is dumb. It's always been dumb. I've thought it was dumb ever since hearing about The Force Unleashed. It's better when dual wielding as opposed to single but still.

SWTOR was a massive downgrade in the KOTOR series. It suffers the same problem all MMO stories suffer, with the added bonus of having less focus as a game because it has to do more than just tell a story. I eagerly await the day it closes so Star Wars MMOs/the KOTOR series has new opportunities

Big agree, I don't mind a solid MMO, but TOR was not a good replacement for KOTOR 3, and several parts of its story severely fall flat.
Despite them being mentioned in passing in the original games I always hated the concept that the Sith were originally a race and not a religion and oh boy did they not even bother trying to make me like it.
Vitiate is DBZ levels of "even more OP than the last guy", he absolutely hands both previous protagonist's asses to them so we can be more important.
Awful.
And that's just the story too, actually playing TOR was one of the dullest MMO experiences I've ever had, there was absolutely nothing interesting about the class design, it felt like I had 10 varieties of damage spells, with none interacting with each other in any meaningful way.

I always thought Batman was just a moody rich dork in a goofy costume and with goofy gadgets who beats people up for fun. Then I played Arkham Asylum. It did not change my opinion, but it is fun to beat people up.

As a Beat'em Up enjoyer, it most certainly is fun to beat people up

Definitely with you and YeetYeetAwoo. In particular, I think Kevin Michael Richardson's performance was pretty amazing even on par with Mark Hamill's.

Other than that, I'm a fan of the 2004 show's take on Mr. Freeze mainly in that I admire the show's writers for having the balls to modernize his pre-BTAS characterization where he was another villain for Batman to fight.

Helps that Clancy Brown gave a good performance.

I'm curious, what does the LGBT have to do with it?
from your description it kinda sounds like a western – eastern divide mostly. (except when MGQ goes fucking angler fish on you.) i mean you do use a japanese word

I don't like baldur's gate 3
I hate what WotC did to the baalspawn's story, i hate what they did to the returning characters, i dislike the look and feel of it.
I dislike the millennial writing for the most part. there is a reason why divinity is known for it's mechanics and not it's writing. and i didn't find the characters charming just annoying.

Personally my issues would be smaller if it was it's own thing but i have to compare it against BG1 and BG2 and it doesn't feel like the game i remember
also the fucking dice mechanic was fucking stupid, we have had stat checks/dialogue trees for literal decades. planescape torment sticks out to me with the "in gry" puzzle in the undead sewers which you can either win by having 16 int or by dialogue. making it random but influenced on player's stats makes much more sense in disco Elysium where these can be retried or well you're encouraged to replay it and failure is great.

Wither's is great though.

Well, I can follow that up with a BG3 opinion of my own. It's not as overtly negative, but I do have to say that I find the game to be overrated and overhyped. I've heard it called "the best video game ever made" multiple times, but it really isn't. It's impressive in a lot of ways, and not all of them good. It has some high highs and some low lows. Sometimes it's stunning, but it's just as likely to be an unengaging slog to get through. Sometimes it's technically impressive, other times it's glitching out like Skyrim on a bad day. Writing varies from some of the most heartfelt, engaging narrative to some of the corniest, pandering garbage I've ever seen. Overcoming a challenging encounter with with a well-laid strategy is a recurrent source of satisfaction, though the game is no stranger to tedium and arbitrary bullshit.

I'll probably remember it fondly, but I'm almost to the end and I'm not sure I have the stamina to play it twice.
Take me back, Elden Ring!

I think Baldur's Gate 3 is a bit like how Fallout 3 is in relation to it's previous titles. It's a complete genre and sometimes tonal shift and it appeals to different fans.

If you want a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate II, there's a bunch of isometric RPGs (their renaissance actually started a while ago). Pillars of Eternity & Tyranny are the best (I'm always sad that it's unlikely that Tyranny will have a sequel).

you're exactly right, even in the technical issues!

I will say, Baldur's Gate 3 is the infinitely better game though but Fallout 3 was NEEDED for the fallout series to be revived.

Fallout 3 was needed for Fallout New Vegas and I think most Fallout 1 & 2 fans still like New Vegas.

Hello Ghost, sorry that my response is weeks late. It's mostly due to both my personal medical issues a few weeks back and the fact that I’ve just return to this thread to notice your response.

Most of the queer people are a lot more willing to go for that monstrous aspect of monsters. And I'm not saying that the LGBT community is inherently uphold monsters in a general sense. Any group that’s been ostracize by society (due to race, gender, disability, and of course sexuality) often so represent themselves with monsters. And that was because in certain media, monsters are represented as the rejection by society and fear of uncertainty and incomprehension. Which to many people can relate to, unfortunately. but that would explain the amount of romances in media involving human and monster. Although, there are also a bunch of other metaphors that monsters also represented. But I just want to keep down to one subject.

On a side tangent,

I assume by the initials of the game you're mentioning. Monster Girl Quest. I’m correct? The example you mention for Anko is literately just breast and head of a woman that’s just duck tape by an actual angular fish. Is it unconventional? Yes. But I was more hoping for an overweight (or at least chubby) fishwoman with huge hips and ass, sharp teeth and claws, some hypnosis gimmick about luring other people, and vore, and fuck it some warts with that. But I guess the fault lies with me for overly exert my expectations.

And it’s not like many other monsters in the game really do much better either. I spend up to 2 or so hours looking up the designs on their gamepedia, and it kind of feels like over half of the roster are more humanoid than monsters, or just paste big titty anime girl onto an object/thing and called it a day. Some are hardly categorized by such. But there are a few designs that do fit with my definition, but that's the exception rather than the norm.

Since I’ve made that post, here’s another follow up to funny animal creatures.

In regard to furries, I just find canines (such as dogs, wolves, foxes, etc.) to be rather overly trite. I just find it more and more basic when I see the ‘furry crush of the month’ and it's just another dog character like the last month. and before that.
and before that.
and before that.
and before that.
and it suddenly been the same for several years.
and I'm just like, no shit simpleton. It basically became the default go to for the “we want the furry audience” and “baby’s first furry crush” from so many media communities and communities that it kind of ended up blending itself together.
I just wish that people are into other animal characters besides the most common denominator. or at least, expand their horizon with scalies, avians, or fishes. I’m pouring out to anyone who’s into anthro insects, you’re the most underappreciated folks out there.

While I'd like for Mario Kart to to dig deeper for future rosters like more DKC characters along with characters from the Mario RPGs and Wario games instead of having generic enemies. I genuinely want Blooper to become another generic enemy added to the roster if it meant that they did away with the Blooper item.

Like pikmin?

Actually, Pikmin are more plant-animal hybrid creatures that functions as an insect colony than actual insects. although that series leans more towards the alien-like speculative biology. Now I'm just wondering if there is a thing like speculative furries out there.

but no, what I mean by anthro insects are more towards bug people of variate. such as bees, beetles, mantises, moths, etc. and to an extension to non-vertebrates and crustaceans like isopods, shrimps, slugs, crabs, jellyfishes, and so on.

Never heard of what the Slavic fans are up to, I only knew about the Wasteland series.

Any recommendations from that list? The games I mean, not the bizarre conspiracy theories (at least not without a beer).
