KYM currently does not have the feature to toggle NSFW thumbails

What about ballz with no deck?
(edit: changed the "s" in the zentence with a "z")
The NSFW guidelines have received an update! Please be sure to read over it again before posting
I read the guidelines, but it's been a while since I last saw it. What was added? I think the cropping bit wasn't there before.
There were a few updates to old sections, including the cropping part. Other than that:
- Added guideline on borderline NC content
- Added a NSFW guideline on, er, bulges (I couldn't think of a better term, okay ;_;)
- Changed the "NC images needed for documentation" section to account for censored porn
- Added the guideline on cropped pornography
- Added guideline on (relevant) censored nudity
- Changed "Can be seen on a summer's day" to "Can be seen on Major Network Daytime TV"
That's the gist of it, but these notes don't fully describe the new updates, so please read the changes anyway.

Uh, so I know we just updated them, but there is something that seems a bit unclear. We say censored nudity is "okay". While there are cases I agree, especially when there is merit to the next image, unless there was a major idea shift, censored porn, unless needed for documentation is still NC, right? I.E. a thread where a response had a topless girl in one response it would be fine censored. An image that is just sexually explicit art with a little censor bar is still NC, right?
If I'm understanding you correctly, then I would say that Censored porn that is not vital for documentation is still NC. Really it's the same case as the Cropped porn. I did a bit of rewriting to account for this.
What would BDSM fall under? It usually involves whips, bondage and ball gags. This picture for example: http://40.media.tumblr.com/817452aac19c6ace45b32afcf26fd163/tumblr_o1w3jdgSru1spe3yyo1_1280.png

YTMND's NSFW guidelines are too vague.
But here on knowyourmeme.com, they are well-detailed.
When it comes to nudity, images are OK as long as itβs something that can be seen on a Major Network Daytime TV. Images that include bathing suits, side boob, cleavage, but would still be seen on major network TV channels are ok and just need a NSFW tag. This still means no genitals and no sexual activities
so this is ok seen on children's daytime TV
this is NSFW cleavage and bathing suits
How do these rules make sense?
There are entries that show "NC" and are relevant for the entry but entry is labeled NSFW. So "NC" should really be labeled as NSFW because that is what NSFW really is. Everything you are calling NSFW is really Not Safe For Children.
How many users here actually have jobs? How many are actually under age without adult supervision? How many under age kids are on KYM and are the ones uploading what you are calling NSFW?
It is actually called Mature Content that you are calling NSFW and should be labeled as that. we should also have a Mature Content Filter since it can be proven that this site can Filter certain tags like MLP.
How is it that all these kids can be playing these video games, watching these animes, reading these mangas, looking at this art etc. etc. and then quote rules to another user on what is or isn't NSFW?
If you are an adult and have certain "Moral Values" that's fine for you but that's your own personal choice. You don't like furries, anime, pokemon, MLP, etc. that's also your own personal choice.
As it seems that those entries are the ones that people complain about being NSFW the most and mods with "moral values" listen to complaints from people. Seems that these rules really are biased for the haters when Don can post this without a NSFW tag breaking the same rule of bathing suit and cleavage. Not a single mod got a complaint for that did they?
The reason I'm bringing all this up is that a mod hid a pic that I uploaded years ago and now under "Super Secret Mod Forum" they have new rules that aren't posted yet, it was considered NC by that mod. It was a furry pic so of course it would need to be removed.
TL;DR mods suck ass at making rules that make sense

Maybe we could work it in with movie ratings.
G, PG, PG-13 are all SFW but stuff from an R or NC-17 should be rated NSFW. I think that might be better as it'll be less controversial. I got multiple images that were NSFW when they shouldn't be. Like I had to undo an NSFW at one point because a character from Pokemon was showing the midriff.
This was considered NSFW at one point but I had to change it. Sometimes users put an image instantly marked as NSFW when it isn't. If we have a system that works like what I showed it might be better.
Alrighty, it seems the rules have been transfered over from the draft made and the edits suggested to this now. Yay for clarification!
Nice, some new updates on the NSFW guidelines. Now, if only we can get some established guidelines on tagging and sourcing soon enough, that would be very great.

We do, it's just impossible to find. It would be useful to have a thread though, so you should see one soon enough.

I have seen that post before. It's a great set of guidelines, but I would prefer to have an official thread stating these guidelines rather than just a post in some random thread as you stated.
so what butts are not allowed?
this is ok
this is ok
this is not?

why do we even need a bare butts rule again?
Dreamworks wrote:

agreed! if porn is NC and bannable can't mods just go by no genitals, no female nipples and no buttholes and be safe? no confusion over rules, please.
Now there won't be anymore images with thongs and g-strings. Gotta keep those creepy and lewd ads out of this site.
In hindsight (heh, hind!), I regret trying to upload a certain image to body inflation that has butt expansion. I apologize. I suppose under the revised guidelines, I won't make such a gamble again.
If an image is more obscene, sexual, or violent than normal given the entry topic, it should be left without a NSFW tag.
Is this a typo? Because it seems like you guys were trying to say "it still needs an NSFW tag even if it's in an NSFW entry."
That was indeed a typo. Thanks for catching it fam.
Fully uncovered buttocks, including g-strings
This rule is still being evaluated, because what we had written down was different, and when a user pointed out an issue with it, we tried to clarify. That wasn't liked, so it got changed to this. And now it's even less liked.
So, expect that to change. Just a PSA.

Moved it to the "Major Daytime TV" point in the NSFW guidelines.
If tv allows the ass, so do we basically.
Also rewrote the OP post.

I'm obviously pulling the most extreme example I could find, but would something like this be considered NC or NSFW?
I know this likely won't happen anyway but I'll make a point here.
Some M rated games allow topless girls such as the God of War franchise (Especially 3) and the later games of Senran Kagura. There's also heavy moaning in some of them like Conker's Bad Fur Day. Shouldn't this therefore mean that Topless Girls should be allowed considering the rules? Also Titanic allows topless girls and that's for 13 years and older. One Punch Man has Mosquito Girl which has her nipples bulging through her tight clothes and that's only TV-14 in content. Also Gurren Lagann had a movie (Keep in mind Gurren Lagann is meant to be for young teenagers) and that movie had nipples showing in it with Yoko and Nia. Does this mean we're not allowed to show stuff from 13+ movies and 14+ TV shows now? This system is way too messed up. If anything we're still on the fact that NSFW is just Mature Content. I'm not saying NSFW should be porn or anything and keep the stuff like fluids, vaginas, penises and sex away obviously but it's still way too strict. There should be more leeway.
The thing about M rated games was added in an attempt to clarify, but was done by a single mod (that afaik didn't talk to anyone, might have but I didn't hear anything about that), and I objected to it but it stayed. I objected on the basis that this kind of confusion would crop up. /rivers/ was right again
For the TV-14 stuff you mentioned, note that both OPM and Gurren Lagann are Japanese. They have different standards than the U.S., which is where KYM is based, and gets a lot of its traffic from.
As for Titanic, it should be mentioned that the MPAA ratings system is kinda⦠not highly standardized. Searching "MPAA controversy" on Google brings up numerous examples.
As I said, I didn't want it in there for this reason.
Now, the right way to read that is to just kind of get a general idea, not a specific one, of what's allowed.
(The M rated thing, iirc, was implemented over characters such as Quiet in Metal Gear.)
If you wish for there to be chance on the level of, say, allowing female toplessness, you've got to make that case to the admins β and I can nearly guarantee they won't be receptive. Once upon a time images with nipples were on site β I removed a several year old image of a human fluttershy in see-through lingerie a few months ago. However, those were made to be not allowed.
The common argument for not allowed that is that it hurts where they show up in Google search results. Nudity and things like that apparently bump you down, or something to that extent. (The most extreme example like that I can think of is when 8chan got removed from it altogether.)

While I understand where your coming from I do have an argument for OPM and Gurren Lagann. Even though this site is mostly Western Audiences there's a lot of people on this site that watch anime plus this documents stuff from the internet all around the world including anime so it's not too far fetched.

TBH if something you want to upload to KYM is raising this many questions, the simple solution is not to upload it. If you have to query "will this get by the NSFW rules?" then it's probably a risk in the first place.
KYM is not an image booru. I for one think fan art has its place here β it exemplifies subculture and fandom, and promotes discussion, and probably increases site traffic by a reasonable amount.
But is there really a need for such drawn-out discourse on the matter of lewd images? What's the purpose in uploading it? Meme points? I mean you can just see that stuff on a booru or DA or tumblr anyway, and if you're that desperate to talk about it with others, you can use those other sites or IRC, where the rules are a bit more lax.
We all like a laugh here and the odd "wink wink nudge nudge" piece of work, but if you want exposed nips on a website, think about what website you're on first. There's a whole internet out there to suit your purposes.

Except I think you forgot the fact that not everyone goes on the same website. Not everyone has a Booru, DA or Tumblr account and no one has the same username which makes it difficult to find the person on here and talk about the lewd artwork. If I could talk to that person I would and while it's not hard to make an account personally I'm not a fan of those kinds of websites anyway so I wouldn't want to create an account on them. The reason why I would want to talk about it to other people on here is because I know them more. While they are still strangers I would talk to them more than a random person on DA because I've been on here longer.

I didn't forget that at all. But I find it strange that you think that point somehow matters. "Not everyone goes on the same website"? Is that really the best counter-argument you have?
So your logic is that the site rules should be bent to suit you because you don't want to make accounts elsewhere or because you'd rather be here than there?
By your reasoning then, it should be acceptable to say "I want to post porn on this non-porn site rather than that dedicated actual porn site over there, literally because I don't want to go there because I can't be arsed/don't like them"? That is the equivalent of the logic you are using here. I just want to point out to you that this is a poorly-reasoned perspective.
For the record I don't have accounts on pr0n sites or art sites either. As you mentioned, I don't have a booru account, I don't have a DeviantArt account and neither do I have tumblr. But that doesn't mean I'm gonna try to force improper rule changes on a non-porn site. I've seen you in the comments dude, I know you can do better reasoning than this.
Flattering for KYM that you want to stick around and seemingly use it beyond its intended purpose. However, you follow the rules and the site's purpose, not vice versa.
You should honestly come to the IRC mate. No one gives so much of a crap there about dem tiddies, and it's more relaxed. What I've said here is not to have a go at you, it's to illustrate to you that there are ways around what you're talking about without this tryhard effort at getting the NSFW rules changed for your personal preferences.
Considering a post to the Hentai Quotes image gallery that features a visible vibrator; from things I've seen on the gallery, it seems safe, but I've been wrong before. What is the guideline on this?
Edit- it's in a full dildo shape
Hentai Quotes is given more lee way due to the nature of the entry. If the vibrator isn't being used in any way, it should be okay. I'd give it a NSFW tag from what I'm hearing.
So, this maybe be a stupid question, but is NC content allowed to be linked to another website? There's this chapter in a manga that confused me, so I wanted to ask the forums if they could figure it out. However, although it isn't full blown hentai, it's definitely NC. So I didn't necessarily want to risk anything before consulting anyone about. So am I allowed to link to the manga website that has it?

If it's the topic of the forum post just put an NSFW warning next to the post I think. To state rule 3 of KYM Forum Rules.
No porn or gore. External links to sites containing such content or ads will be censored at the discretion of moderators, unless it is absolutely vital to meme research discussions and accompanied by a clear [NSFW] warning label.
To clarify on what Mameme said β unless it's necessary to meme research, don't link it. You can provide a name and the name of the website it's on, and the other members should be able to find it alright.

No. Anuses are considered NC. Same applies to female anuses.
Minor update. Check out the newly made announcements thread for more info.
An admin just put porn on the front page. So Adam can upload porn because he's an admin but we can't? Shouldn't he get demoted because of this?

It's clearly agaisnt the rules but we obviously can't do anything about it because it would mess the frontpage, on top of that it's not even strictly necessary for an entry, it just goes to show how closely connected are the admins to the rest of the site, this happened before with Ari Spool but it never reached frontpage so we could delete it, unbelievable

It's weekend, so it means it's ten times harder than usual to get in contact with the admins, I already sent some pm's so all is left to do is play the waiting game
It's gone now

Alright so the video is gone but because Adam posted content against NSFW guidelines shouldn't that mean he gets sent back to normal user and gets demoted or even suspended? Otherwise that seems quite bias.

People don't get demodded because they fucked up once. More than likely, even a normal user wouldn't get anything more than a warning for uploading something against the guidelines, as long as they didn't keep doing it after being warned.
