I recently installed a mobile game (Star wars galaxy of heroes) for the first time in years. It's a game I already played then dropped. There are literally 11 different layers of grinding now(though admittedly with a degree of overlap and automation).The most egregious part is the prerequisite for special characters. It forces you to go through the whole process 1-5 times just so you can do it again with who you actually want. Then you can finally use them. It really is just a grinding simulator disguised as a game.

Only reason I'm not dropping the game immediately is the actual endgame might be fun now and I have a bunch of characters already so I can actually enjoy myself without the grind if necessary.

But man, it is infinitely better to learn a skill like programming or art than it is to download mobile games. Far better use of your time and way cheaper.

There's an almost hilarious irony in seeing those stereotypical "anti-woke" YouTube channels completely miss that South Park: Into the Panderverse was also making fun of them just as much as it was making fun of corporate woke pandering. Like they outright called these sorts of folks equally as lazy as the corporations they complain about, and it also made fun of how much these YouTubers act like Kathleen Kennedy is this boogyman that's ruining all of Disney when in reality her influence is nowhere near as high as they keep acting like.

People keep forgetting South Park shits on conservatives and liberals in equal measure.

Sorry for the double post moment (I seem to do that often, no?) but I gotta get this off my chest. I hate that I watched a video earlier about extreme religious people who demonize Halloween and make their kids have no fun all because of stupid shit. Yes the holiday may have origins with pagan Celts, but Halloween is NOT the same thing as Samhain, it's just a fun little holiday where people get to have fun with the subject of horror by turning something scary into fun. I guarantee you that unless someone is literally a pagan Celt they're NOT treating Halloween as a day to "engage in demon worship" or some such nonsense (and shit said pagans don't worship demons on Samhain, they're actually trying to appease them to get them to go away). It's left me feeling a bit down because I can't believe even nowadays the got damn "Satanic panic" of the 80s is still having far reaching consequences into the modern day.

Just like how the Nolan Batman movies have had a negative influence on the Batman mythos, Urobuchi's Madoca Magica has also had a very negative influence on the Magical Girl anime genre, and in a MUCH worse way at that. It's seriously been an uncomfortably long time since I've seen a good magical girl anime that's not Symphogear; everything else is either kiddy stuff or messy edgefests, with edgefests being more common. Damn it, how did we even manage to get to this point? Can't we go back to the era of Lyrical Nahona? I just want a good magical girl who is somewhat serious without being a tryhard edge mess.

If you're gonna complain about Batman going the "dark and edgy" route then blame Frank Miller and Alan Moore since it was The Dark Knight Returns and The Killing Joke that had the biggest influence on works like Tim Burton's duology and Batman: The Animated Series long before Christopher Nolan.

To be fair to Alan Moore and The Killing Joke, he has said years back that he didn’t like what he did with it. Plus despite it’s brutality, I still think it’s alright (provided you ignore the godawful animated movie)

I aggressively go out of my way to avoid spoilers. When I'm watching/playing or on hiatus from something I like, I don't google it. I don't youtube it. I don't go on forums to discuss it. I don't even look at art of it. Nothing.

I think I'm starting to realize that I don't really dislike race swaps/race bends themselves, and more that I hate it when those making them show the utmost contempt and/or apathy for the source material. Disney's new Snow White is the most obvious example.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like I've noticed a trend of the contempt happening more than genuine like for most movies/tv shows. While Twitter racebends would usually be made by cringer artists, it's never really been out of contempt or apathy. (Or at least not the same extent.) Maybe its the corporatization of it, just trying to get a product out there and go straight for the bottom line.

In most apocalypse scenarios, the world population greatly diminishes, but it’s unlikely that humanity goes extinct. If we can manage to set up permanent settlements on other worlds, then our losses would be mitigated further.

For the love of everything can we please stop equating "emulation" and "piracy" as the same damn thing? They're LITERALLY not. Emulation isn't illegal, it's the act of pirating software you do not own that's illegal, and even then I don't condemn all piracy because yes it is annoying as all fuck when a company provides no legal means to play or purchase a piece of software you want to experience.

I was looking at Reddit about Youtube's anti-adblock thing, and one person was legit defending personalized ads because "it helps them find what they wanna buy". WHAT?! Not only are they getting manipulated by ads to buy a product, but they like it too???

YT bootlickers are too far gone. There's literally over a full decade of evidence against that site and shills STILL pretend there's nothing wrong with it. You just can't reason with some people.

VERY late on this, but I haven't gotten over how the old version of Mangapark (v2) is just…gone. It isn't archived anywhere I know of. I can't find on the wayback machine. It just vanished out of nowhere. Now merely a memory. And as far as I'm aware, there was barely any warning, beyond the huge lack of updates.
This might actually be worse than when Mangastream went away. There were so many works on the old one that aren't on the newer versions, and they are just worse designed in general. For example, I can't search by Year on the newer ones, which is total bogus.
WHY was this needed? I don't see why they couldn't have let the old one be. Did they not want it hogging the search results or something similar to that? Or was it a lame excuse like "old bad"? Regardless, I doubt any reason for this would be good enough for me.

When I see 50k march in New York calling to globalize the intifada and talking about the final solution vis a vie Israel and Jews I am increasingly becoming doom pilled. Time has brought me certain horrifying realizations, great among which is the understanding of just how suggestible people can be. As they say, no one is immune to propaganda, but I am endlessly shocked to find those who seem to act as empty vessels eagerly waiting for someone to fill them up with thoughts and ideas not their own. Their values and whole personality might mutate accordingly, becoming unrecognizable, and if the spell should break they hold themselves unaccountable, insisting that they only did what a decent person should do following their experience. Even when wrong they were in the right, and those right were in the wrong for disagreeing. Eternally blameless.
Of course, such people enjoy being advertised to. Without outside ideas such people would have no idea how to spend or invest their capital. So ever goes the grift.

on top of that, I fucking wish textiles were updated, or at least this site. imagine failing to at making hyperlinks, hidden text, or even trying to change size aspect of videos/images because I use the wrong double quote or accidentally use a space between one of the line of codes. I basically had to use coding software such as Visual Studio Code for any of my post that uses textiles.

Because the term anti-Semitism is specifically to describe hatred towards Jews. It originated in the 19th century, first to describe Semitic races, but increasingly was used to specifically define Jews. TBH I have no clue what's going on with Hololive that lead to what you mention. Not the whole V-tuber genre. just them particularly. like, is this a common occurrence in that community or it just started to spiral?

I never really interest by Hololive as a whole since there aren't that many that interest me. but I don't mind V-tubers. A bunch of content creators I watch often times user their V-tuber persona, but that's mostly coming from someone who watches them for their own content and their V-tuber persona is just an extension than following them because their V-tubers to begin with.

Pippa's a member of Phase Connect, not Hololive. I believe what happened is Pippa has admitted to being a 4chan lurker and on occasion she likes to bring up conspiracy theories like "false flag operations" and such, which unfortunately lead to /pol/ anons to seriously believe she's either "one of them" or that they can force her to join them. An unfortunate side effect is even when Pippa makes it clear she doesn't actually actually share the mindset of your average /pol/ anon, they still show up in the comments of clips relating to her to leave comments like "actually here's why racism, homophobia, etc, is unironically based."

Browsing trending on twitter is becoming increasingly exhausting.

All these e-whores and porn accounts shit up everything with their irrelevant garbage. Since Oct 7 gore is becoming more and more prevalent as well.

It's like you can't look at anything without taking the risk. Even with hashtags which should be quite safe like music or game stuff.

I'm not a fan of winter. I admit it's probably because I live somewhere where it almost never snows at any point during the year, but I still feel like my views would not change much if I did live somewhere with consistent snow. To be fair, it is nice to have at least one season that doesn't have constantly warm days throughout the week. It's also nice to actually have rain on a consistent schedule before it goes back to being very rare. But aside from that, the days are too short (even if daylight savings time was active during this time), it gets too cold to the point where you can't be out of the house for too long after 7pm, and there's not much to do besides stay home and browse the internet.

I'm the opposite, I dislike the summer time because it gets too damn hot and muggy where I live (humid heat is worse than dry heat). I really only liked summer when I was younger because it meant three months of no school, but now as a working adult it doesn't have that appeal anymore. Now granted yeah sometimes it gets a bit too cold for my liking, but I've always maintained "it's easier to warm up than it is to cool down," as layering up what I wear is easy but if I get butt ass naked and I'm still sweating a storm then I'm kinda fucked.

But that all said, fall has always been my favorite season as most of the time it's the perfect in-between, the heat of summer is fading but we're not at the near freezing temps of winter yet. Plus fall is when the holiday season begins (in the US it starts with Halloween, and Canada has their Thanksgiving in mid October), so it's got an air of "this is the time where the fun begins."

I gotta say I find it very interesting how so many of you talk about how much you hate wojaks while at the same time you upvote and give your attention to various images that literally have the exact same intention as the wojak simply because it dunks on things or entities you don't like.

this is a very personal vent I have compare to the previous. I don't know if this is against the guidlines to talk about something too personal. but I need to get this out of my chest.

I haven't post much as of late here. well, mostly I haven't been able to be as motivated with anything as of late. but it's not burnt out. is just that I've been dealing with an unusual head trauma for the past year and just the beginning to gone worse as for the past 2 months. I keep describing my family members that I keep feeling something moving around my head and I can't explain why.

But there also other things that effected me, my left eye keep twitching nonstop, I develop hair loss, I experience god awful migraine to the point that non of the prescribe medicine work on me, I couldn't think of see straight, and now there this crackling sound inside my head that happens was too often.

that's when yesterday that I finally gone to the ER to find out what's going on with my health. Well I've been going to the ER for the past several years, but my doctor keep refusing to take me seriously about my health condition. that, and they keep delaying me for 4-6 months for each check up, regardless of how severe it is. I got feed up with my doctor and start checking on closest hospital that could request me CT Scan.

That's when I found out that I was developing a really bad Paranasal Sinus Disease that have been reaching around the back my brain. I didn't even know I've been having this for so long. or at least, if it weren't for my doctor, this could of been resolve much sooner.

Now they say that I desperately need EMT specialist to basically do a nasal and maybe even a brain surgery on Monday.

There's many bad design decisions on this site, but you know one bad decision that's not talked off as much as it needs to be? The megabyte upload limit! That's way too damn small and only causes headaches for uploaders.

Agreed, I've had a good couple of occasions where I had to convert a PNG to JPG due to size limitations, and this causes the image to either lose transparency or get the typical jpeg artifacts.

Also here's a new vent: the game industry feels like it might be on a collision course towards at least SOME kind of crash because man so many companies are being hit with mass layoffs, it's honestly disheartening. At the very least the AAA side of the industry feels like it's gotten to where budgets and profits are utterly unsustainable, with it feeling like Nintendo is arguably the only big name company that's actually managed to avoid these issues for the last decade (even during the Wii U era, though definitely a big help during that era was the late Satoru Iwata cutting his own pay in order to not lose employees, something so many more CEOs should be doing were they not real life examples of the kinds of corrupt businessmen we've been seeing in cartoons for 70+ years).

I also fear that it's not long until console gaming goes the route PC gaming went the last decade or more, namely going "all digital." I know PC gamers went that direction some time ago by deciding they'd rather buy everything off of Steam or GOG and no longer installing disc drives in their PCs, but I've always felt consoles really should keep physical media, especially for preserving older games. The company that seems most in danger of going this route is without a doubt Microsoft. Those leaked documents about a planned "mid gen refresh" for the Xbox Series consoles outright called the planned system "adorably all digital," some upcoming first party games like Hellblade 2 have no signs of any physical release at all, but the biggest concern is Microsoft has shut down and laid off the entirety of the staff that handled doing physical releases. Add on to this the rumor that Wal-Mart may soon be getting ready to heavily discount their entire Xbox selection in order to get rid of Xbox games in their stores, I feel like the days of physical Xbox games are numbered…
