See, I am questioning it because Social Media and meme culture means a lot of supposed "historic events" were forgotten within weeks. Like 9/10 "major historic events" end up being a blip on the radar soon after.
Hell people largely forgot the assassination attempt of Reagan back in 1981.
Historic events usually become historic by virtue of the context of the "before and after".
Remember the Panama and Paradise Papers, how they were the biggest investigative jorunalist masterpiece maybe EVER, YEARS of worth poured into it and yet completely forgotten almost in an instance? In an age without social media these Papers would have dictated public discourse for the better part of the year.
But thanks to social media, the public's attention span has been reduced to that of a goldfish.
