Is there anything which can be done to enforce memes-only on the database or listing?

It has been some time now that the knowyourmeme image listing resembles more a zerochan gallery, than a meme database.

Is there anything which can be done to prune or cut down all the fanart uploads, while giving space and priority again to memes and only memes?
A similar pruning should be weighed for the comics upload, since comics are not really memes either.

Since filters were already suggested, and "soft rejected", what else could be done?
(it's odd filters were said to be "too hard to implement", since the advanced tag search is already for all purposes a filter, there just needs to be a "negative value" keyword to allow effective filtering, like "-tag" excluding all images and memes with that tag)

A warning in the upload page? (do those ever work?)
A blacklist/whitelist of meme categories?

The mods have made attempts in the past to purge the site of all nsfw uploads that are not essential for documentation. However, all of them were in vain. Purging the site of fanart and comics would be similarly unsuccessful.

The fact is, Know Your Meme, despite its name, is about Internet culture as a whole, not just memes. Some fanart and comics can spawn memes and getting rid of them would hurt the site’s scope.

In other words, no.

The failures of the past can be interesting to look at, but that's the past. Perpetual failure isn't a given. That's rather an excuse to cover a lack of willingness.
Having functioning filters, to filter out all the fanarts, would be the best solution in my view.

"Some fanart and comics can spawn memes and getting rid of them would hurt the site’s scope."

Let's be real, there are no artists on this site, and very few people actually creating memes.

The almost totality of the memes here are reposted from the wider internet, so no, the fanarts in here give zero to none contribution to the generation of new memes.

Thanks anyway for the inputs.

Here an other example of a fanart site with a listing almost identical to the one here:

I'm struggling to see how the origins are relevant here….why does it matter if people on it's people from the site or the internet that create the memes & art? Doesn't change the fact that there are many memes with artistic origins or derivations

We're talking about a site that doesn't even let you quote bits of a person's post, only the entire thing. Them not being able to implement a filter for whatever reason is entirely possible.
