Apparently I heard it was done by a copyright troll named Aaron Peters
Which makes sense, as why would Nintendo go after GMOD NOW of all times?

Thank god, your voice of provides clarity within the messy maddness.
Garry Newmann made a tweet saying he "verified the takedowns are legit" but there's still a lot of skepticism. Making very authentic looking fake documents is a bit too easy in this day and age (scarily so) so no one is certain one way or another.
