The video surfaced in 2023 and was continually referenced going into 2024. The man's monologue also became a copypasta.

Origin

On March 28th, 2023, YouTuber^[1] Israel Padilla posted a video called, "How big do you prefer it?" in which he was on the beach at South Padre Island, Texas, likely during Spring Break, conducting interviews with strangers. The video starts with a bodybuilder Black man approaching two white women on the beach. Padilla asks the girls, "Y'all like bodybuilders?" and one of them responds, "I like skinny, scrawny guys." The bodybuilder then starts a monologue, saying, "How about multi-millionaires? How about eight inches and thick?" He then talks about how his wife who had recently died as well as his daughter who had committed suicide. Over one year, the video received roughly 445,300 views (shown below).

The video also went viral when Padilla posted it to his TikTok, however, he later deleted the video. The TikTok was reposted by Redditor^[2] BlackFEMTO to /r/IAmTheMainCharacter on March 25th, 2023, gaining over 5,000 upvotes in a year.

On May 15th, 2023, X^[3] user @mmamarcuss reposted the video, writing, "this dude hates skinny dudes 💀," gaining over 5.1 million views and 8,900 likes in a year (shown below, left).

On May 17th, 2024, X^[4] user @MulhollandL0ver quoted the video, joking about the man getting "curved" and then trauma dumping, receiving over 31,000 likes in a year (shown below, right).

The video went viral multiple times in 2023 via reposts, like one shared by X^[5] user @PicturesFoIder on July 30th, 2023, gaining over 22 million views and 116,000 likes in 10 months. X^[6] user @LegenDarrenX replied to the repost on July 30th, using the crying Wojak mask image, gaining over 17,000 likes in 10 months (shown below, left).

On March 29th, 2024, X^[7] user @sabatonfan69 posted a quote with a screenshot of the "8 inches and thick" guy to joke about a post reading, "reasons why I'm single." The quote gained over 1,600 likes in three months (shown below, right).
