It Fucken Wimdy refers to a viral 2019 post by Tumblr user foxpost-generator consisting of a photograph of a fox getting blown by a strong gust of wind, captioned, "it fucken WIMDY," an intentional misspelling of "windy." The image inspired redraws and memes referencing it over the following years while the quote also spread as a funny alternative to saying "windy."
Origin
On July 19th, 2019, Tumblr[1] user foxpost-generator reblogged an image of a fox standing in the snow, enduring a large gust of wind, adding the caption, "it fucken WIMDY." Tumblr user ourspecial reblogged it, adding, "ever since i first saw this post, 'it fucken WIMDY' is easily one of the top ten most commonly used phrases in my household" (shown below). The full post gained over 339,000 notes in roughly three years.
Spread
The image quickly inspired fan art, memes and redraws on Tumblr as it went viral. For example, on July 24th, 2019, Tumblr[6] user veddabredda posted a redraw of the fox, using the quote underneath, gaining over 41,000 notes in roughly three years (shown below). The original meme also gained viral spread through reposts. For example, in October 2020, Instagram[2] page imagimeemee posted a screenshot of the post, gaining over 130,000 likes in a year.
On October 29th, 2020, Tumblr[3] user askhunters-for-hire posted a redraw of the meme drawing the fox as a Palamute, gaining from Monster Hunter, gaining over 1,700 notes in a year (shown below).
The phrase has also spread outside of Tumblr. For example, on March 13th, 2021, Twitter[7] user blepfox posted a video of a fox in the wind, writing, "a wimdy fox," gaining over 1,200 likes in 11 months (shown below).

On August 26th, YouTuber Tails is disappointed in your recent decisions posted a voiced over version of the meme, gaining over 55,000 views in six months (shown below). That same month, a Redditor posted a cross stitch of the meme to /r/CrossStitch,[8] gaining over 400 upvotes in six months.
On October 10th of that year, Tumblr[5] userdeboracabral posted a redrawn cartoon referencing the meme, gaining over 110,000 notes in four months (shown below).
On January 7th, 2022, Tumblr[4] user s4pp-hoe posted an image macro using the original fox image captioned, "if you're wimdy he's wimdy let him in," gaining over 1,100 notes in a month (shown below).
